Dozens of lives have been lost over the years due to traffic accidents involving trucks carrying stones mixing with public vehicles on the Parung Panjang-Rumpin public road in Bogor Regency.

Dimly lit streets and irregular operating hours of mining trucks cause concern among residents as they traverse the roads of Rumpin, Kabupaten Bogor. Numerous casualties have resulted from these issues.

On the evening of June 5th, Amadeus editorial team, drove through these roads, passing from Grendong Bridge to Paranje Bridge, witnessing several heavy mining trucks during peak hours. The dim lighting further hampers drivers navigating through Rumpin.

Living along the route for transporting mining materials is no easy feat, and many residents of Rumpin struggle with large trucks.

Residents complain about the presence of these trucks due to pollution and dust they produced. Accidents frequently occur along the mining routes connecting Cigudeg, Rumpin, and Parungpanjang, exacerbated by road conditions.

Bogor, known as the City of Rain, and Rumpin, a sub-region of Bogor, often become slippery and waterlogged after rains due to severe road damage, disrupting road users, especially motorcyclists.

According to dinamika.news.id, through Jumat Curhat program by the Bogor Police, residents, including those from Rumpin, expressed their concerns. It was revealed that accidents often occur due to road conditions and inadequate lighting.

They lament severe road damage, hindering access and unpredictable mining transport operational hours. Overloaded mining trucks are also blamed for damaging roads in Rumpin, Kabupaten Bogor.

Moreover, inadequate street lighting in Rumpin contributes to increased incidents of robbery and motorcycle accidents, claiming many lives.

Despite Kabupaten Bogor Government's Regulation No. 120 of 2021, regulating mining operational hours from 20:00 WIB to 05:00 WIB, actual practices differ significantly.

Life Is Not as Valuable as Mining

According to Ridwan Kamil's Instagram post in 2023, dozens of lives have been lost over the years due to traffic accidents involving trucks carrying stones mixing with public vehicles on the Parung Panjang-Rumpin public road in Kabupaten Bogor.

A circulated photo showed a person who perished on Jalan Prada Abdullah, Cipinang Village, Rumpin District, Kabupaten Bogor in December 2023, captioned "In our land, life is not as valuable as mining."

The victim, identified by initials MZ, was an 11th-grade high school student who died after his face hit the back of a parked truck in the driver’s lane while riding. Given the poorly lit road conditions, someone promptly reported the incident to the authorities.

This incident has sparked widespread attention in Rumpin, drawing scrutiny and outcry from student communities, human rights activists, and environmentalists who are grieving and angered, reflecting on previous cases. "The angels of death seem to have gathered along these damaged roads."

  5. Hi, It seems like the situation there is very concerning which as we know that bad air conditions can make people get a huge negative impact such as tuberculosis and others can be experienced.

The government needs to take very serious action regarding this matter, not just silent and rigid like a stupid mouse that can't do anything. And one more thing is also not to forget to educate the public so as not to be left behind information and become an idiot.

  6. What else can be done? Sometimes complaints are not heard, especially when they are only in writing. Even though the Rumpin road has become a witness to how much blood has been shed and tragic incidents have occurred. Do those in power still want to make that road a witness to the end of someone's life?

but in my opinion not only in Rumpin, there are also many accidents due to damaged roads or even vehicles with excessive loads, I hope the regulations can be stricter for the comfort and safety of everyone

  23. Your article is very good, Daffa....and local governments should be more concerned about things like this. Street lighting facilities must be available for public safety. Then, maybe it's not visible now, but breathing the dust produced by trucks over a long period of time will definitely have a bad impact on society.

  38. Good article, it is indeed appropriate that we should be careful when passing through the Rumpin area, pay more attention to our surroundings when driving a vehicle, and hope that the government does not neglect things like this but immediately takes action to prevent it.

  39. It is true that the Rumpin area is famous for the many trucks that pass by every day and sometimes it is not uncommon for many roads to be damaged and have holes. Regardless of what happens, we must maintain our security and hope that the government will resolve this problem as soon as possible.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Air pollution occurs due to the large number of passing vehicles, especially trucks, which cause the Rumpin area to be covered by pollution caused by trucks almost every day.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Rumpin isnt just a place, but it is a home for my homie, all of them, hopefully Rumpin will be better

    ReplyDelete
  42. Nice Article, Exposure to air pollution from large trucks can increase the risk of health problems such as respiratory diseases, heart disease, and even cancer. Fine particles from emissions can enter the respiratory system and cause various health problems.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Perhaps improving infrastructure such as more efficient logistics routes and the use of traffic management technology could help reduce truck travel times and emissions.

    ReplyDelete
  44. i feel so sad about what happen on the Parung Panjang-Rumpin public road in Kabupaten Bogor. Hope the government can give the best solution for this problem.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Pollution from heavy trucks is a complex issue that requires integrated solutions. Cleaner technologies, stricter regulations, improved infrastructure, and increased awareness are all important steps in reducing the impact of this pollution. While the challenges are significant, these steps can help create a healthier and more sustainable environment.

    ReplyDelete
  46. This is very bad, because it can reduce air quality. Emissions from large trucks can reduce air quality, affect people's well-being, and reduce the quality of life, especially in dense urban areas.

    ReplyDelete
  47. not only climate change but also ecosystem damage. The resulting air pollution can damage local ecosystems, including plants and soil. Acid rain, produced from nitrogen oxides, can damage plants and water resources.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Large trucks often operate in urban areas and main roads, which can cause high concentrations of pollution in densely populated areas, worsening air quality in places with a lot of human activity.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Large trucks that fill the roads and cause damage is a problem that requires serious attention from various parties. An approach involving good infrastructure planning, strict regulation, effective maintenance, and the use of innovative technologies can help reduce the negative impacts. With the right solutions, the impact of road damage can be minimized, improving the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of the transportation system.

    ReplyDelete
  50. This can also pose an accident hazard, potholes and road damage can cause accidents, especially for light vehicle drivers who may not be able to avoid the pothole quickly. These damages can also increase the risk of skidding and losing control.

    ReplyDelete
  51. This is a serious problem that needs to be addressed immediately.

    ReplyDelete
  52. This can result in noise and pollution. Damaged roads can increase noise and pollution because trucks have to operate in less than optimal conditions. Vibrations and impacts from damaged roads can also increase emissions from vehicles.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Trucks also need maximum load regulation. Enforcing maximum load limits for trucks and monitoring compliance can help reduce road damage. Regular inspections and sanctions for violators can improve compliance.

    ReplyDelete
  54. This is annoying because these large trucks can increase maintenance costs. Road damage caused by large trucks requires expensive repairs, which ultimately burdens the government and community budgets.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Of course, traffic accidents continue to occur because of this. Large trucks can cause traffic accidents, both due to their size and weight that affect maneuvering on the road and due to road damage caused by the truck.

    ReplyDelete
  56. It can also affect the quality of life. Air pollution and noise from large trucks can reduce people's quality of life, causing discomfort and stress.

    ReplyDelete
  57. The need for driver education (raising awareness among truck drivers about environmental and safety impacts) and public awareness campaigns (educating the public about the impacts of large trucks and encouraging support for sustainable solutions.)

    ReplyDelete
  58. The most impactful are respiratory disorders (emissions from large trucks, especially fine particles and nitrogen oxides, can cause or worsen respiratory health problems such as asthma and bronchitis. Long-term exposure to pollution can also contribute to heart disease and stroke.)

    ReplyDelete
  59. The need for engine innovation (More efficient engine technology and better emission control systems on diesel trucks can reduce the amount of pollutants produced.)

    ReplyDelete
  60. Wow this article reveals the critical situation on the Parung Panjang-Rumpin road, Bogor Regency, regarding public safety due to mining truck operations. But, to strengthen the article, it is recommended to add information about applied regulations, accident statistics, testimonials from residents and authorities, potential solutions for improvement.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I once lived in Rumpin and I felt in the past that almost all the roads were the same as described in the article, but I didn't expect this to still happen now, hopefully the local government can fix it so that nothing bad happens.
